Climate Action Center, with the support of Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, officially launched Karachi’s city-wide Air Quality Display Initiative to make air-quality information available at public scale.
The displays use a simple colour-coded system so people can quickly understand pollution conditions and take appropriate health precautions.

Air pollution is a serious challenge for Karachi. Vehicles, the power sector and industry contribute significantly, while winter conditions can worsen pollution when reduced air movement traps contaminants near the ground.
Public displays help translate complex environmental information into a format citizens can see, understand and use as part of everyday health and safety decisions.

The initiative is a collaboration between Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and Climate Action Center. Its launch brought together representatives from government, civil society, environmental organisations and the media.
The programme also highlights the role of private-sector and CSR participation, reinvestment in sustainable projects and the expansion of urban greenery.
